Congregational minister, founder and trustee of Iowa College. Dr. Adams was a member of the Iowa Band of Congregational missionaries who came to Iowa in 1843. He served as a pastor in Mt. Pleasant, Davenport, Decorah and Eldora. He was instrumental in the founding of Iowa College in Davenport. The college subsequently moved to Grinnell.
